We did the alternative, wove from trunk to top. A few wove multiple threads at once, some braided yarn and wove it. We looked at sky tree by thomas locker. Students illustrated seasons in the background and had to blend paint to reveal intensity. Then the shade inside the branches needed to fit the season illustrated. I even managed to teach stitchery as a few desired apples, flora ,and so on in the tree. Terrific challenge! We made symmetrical stands for them for the artwork display.
